In a Fairy Night: May to June

Updated: Jul 9

May was here and gone in a wink. Life has been great but exhausting in a never ending cycle. There has been a weird energy of waiting for a close. A prolonged sound at the end of a song you swore already finished. There might have been some annoyance and a premature applause, but it was defiantly important to feel like there was a beautiful completion.

With the end of the show in April my hand felt too idle. Like I was missing a major sense of purpose. So I threw myself further into different parts of my creativity. I was writing more, but I felt like I needed to be building. Of course instead of picking up a hobby that I already had that I could create with I needed to find one that I knew nothing about. I picked up a hobby called French Beading. No I obviously couldn't just start casually, no I needed books for research and all the things I could possibly needed. Good thing I love it and I'm not half bad for a beginner.

The Little Mermaid couldn't be over either. We had a lot left going on after the show concluded. I work at a school that is in a state that does a statewide musical competition. This was the first year that our school had ever decided to compete, and let me tell you we didn't just compete, we dominated. We won the highest honor "Outstanding Musical Production" which meant that all of our students were invited to perform in the showcase. We won a list of other awards including "Outstanding Ensemble", three of our leads (Ariel, Sebastian, and Ursula) won "Outstanding Principle Role", our Props Master won "Outstanding Behind the Scenes", Scuttle won "Special Recognition" for her role, and our Choreographer won "Special Recognition Behind the Scenes". For my first and last year I think we did a pretty great job showing up to the party.

With all of that being said the kids got to perform on a stage in front of 3,000 people that also streamed on PBS. We prepped a section of "Under the Sea" for performance and the kids killed it. I was so proud of all of their hard work and it was so fun to get the spend time with them in a more fun and relaxed setting then prepping for a full show.

To finish off the month I have done some massive cleansing, I have so much more to do, but this one felt like lifting a boulder off my chest. You know how we all joke about burning ex-boyfriends sweatshirts, well they never tell you how cathartic it really is once you are completely moved on. I'm not ready to talk about everything that happened, but I am so glad not to be carrying it with me anymore.

  1. Physical: I have made an effort to start closing my rings as often I can. This month my goal is to start closing my rings 6 out of the 7 days of the week. I don't care what kind of movement or exercise it is I just want to close my rings every day, but I have to get it 6 out of 7 days of the week.

  2. Emotional: 5 am wake up club. Yes you read that correctly. For my emotional health this month I am waking up. At. 5. A.M. The point of this is so that I can take my mornings slower and I can be up before the sunrise taking some time to be alone and really wake up in the morning.

  3. Intellectual: Write a chapter a week. Plain and simple, I need to be writing more. I love creating and I have not been spending enough time working on my books and stories.

  4. Social: With me moving away from home in just a few months I need to get better about staying connected long distance. A way to do that is be more interactive with the people I love on social media and make sure that I am also being more active on social media for them to see my life. I want to work on being more active and interactive on social media to keep in contact and grow my connections.

  5. Spiritual: Find a new daily self care ritual. This month I want to test and find things that may work for me as a self care ritual to work on creating and cultivating a better daily routine that can slot into my 5am wake up call.

  6. Environmental: It is time to start packing and getting rid of things that no longer need to be in my life before I move to Washington. I severely need to clean out my spaces so that I can feel decluttered and completely ready for all of the new things coming.

  7. Nutritional: I am returning to meatless Mondays and lunch menu. I am also doing one day no sugar, The day that I do not close my rings I will go no sugar.

  8. Personal: Work on my passions now that the school year is over. Post the podcast, keep up better on the blog, create and have fun with the small and large passions I have.

Here is to another month of constant work, and constant growth. We will see what the summer has in store while I continue to wait in this limbo before I move to the next big thing.
